My son turned 19 months a day ago and it’s been such a beautiful experience through and through. He is so full of energy and is simply a bundle of joy who keeps us all on our toes…lol
Just over 18 years ago I bought this outfit when I was pregnant with my first daughter Nia. I wasn’t sure if I was having a little girl or boy, but I just really loved the outfit and said one day my son would wear it.
I didn’t know how the journey would look like, I didn’t know that before him I’d have 4 pregnancies each with its unique lesson. I didn’t know it would fall in this sequence;
1- my first princess,
2- an ectopic pregnancy (a complication that challenged my health and had me in hospital for a while)
3- my second princess,
4- a miscarriage which would really stretch our faith as a family and
5- the arrival of my little prince. I didn’t know it would be 18 years before I held this little boy in my arms.
The thing is, God answers our prayers. But the challenge or struggle we may face is we often have a picture of how the journey should look like. It should be smooth with no hiccups, no bumps, no road works, no puncture etc. Well, that’s not always the case. Sometimes we face some setbacks, and the journey isn’t a smooth ride after all; it doesn’t actually look like what we expected it to.
Regardless of the facts of life, we must be confident and continue to speak the truth into existence, being confident that He that has begun a good work in us is able to see it to the end. The journey is not meant to break you but to build you.
Some experiences are there to help us have a better appreciation for life, some are there to help us get back into the right frame of mind, some are there to help us empathise with others and some are there to give us the experience needed to help others- there’s always a purpose.
Well, to cut the long story short, my baby recently fit into his outfit.
I’m grateful and reminded to count my blessings….
